Hammer mills, pellet presses, mixers, dryers, conveyors, and packaging lines all run in sequence — and the moment power falters, the entire production chain stalls. For Astha Feeds Ltd., POWERtrac delivered a high-capacity 3000 kVA feed mill power infrastructure engineered specifically to keep that chain running — reliably, continuously, and with the energy efficiency that makes large-scale agro-industrial operations commercially viable.

The Feed Mill Power Demand

Large feed mills are electrically intensive operations. The machinery involved — particularly grinding mills and pellet presses — draws high inductive loads continuously, generating significant reactive power and placing heavy demand on the distribution system. At 3000 kVA of installed transformer capacity, this is a serious industrial power requirement that demands equally serious engineering: robust high-tension protection, high-current LT distribution, and a large-scale PFI system capable of keeping reactive power under control across all production shifts.

3000 kVA Power Transformers: A high-capacity 3000 kVA transformer installation forms the power backbone of the Astha Feeds facility — delivering substantial, stable electrical supply to meet the combined peak demand of all processing, utility, and ancillary systems operating simultaneously. Sized for the full operational intensity of a large-scale feed manufacturing plant, the transformer provides the raw power capacity the facility needs to run at maximum throughput without constraint.

11 kV HT Switchgear (VCB): Vacuum Circuit Breaker-based high-tension switchgear at the 11 kV primary entry level provides reliable, fast-acting protection and controlled switching at the highest voltage point in the system. In a feed mill environment — where sudden motor starts and heavy inductive switching events are routine — the VCB's ability to interrupt faults instantly and safely is critical to protecting the transformer investment and keeping the facility shielded from grid-side disturbances.

LT Switchgear — 5000A: A 5000A heavy-duty low-tension switchgear panel manages the distribution of power across all sections of the feed manufacturing facility — from grinding halls and pelletizing lines to utility systems, lighting, and ancillary operations. Rated for the high sustained currents that large feed mill motors generate, this panel provides organized, protected, and maintainable power distribution to every corner of the plant — with the circuit capacity to match the full installed load without compromise.

Automatic PFI Plant — 1800 kVAR: At 1800 kVAR, this is a large-scale automatic Power Factor Improvement installation — commensurate with the reactive power demands of a 3000 kVA feed mill operation. The PFI plant continuously monitors the facility's reactive consumption across all load points and corrects it automatically in real time, maintaining an optimal power factor throughout every production shift. The impact is tangible and immediate: lower monthly electricity bills through elimination of reactive energy penalties, reduced current loading on the transformer and LT switchgear, extended equipment life, and maximized utilization of the installed transformer capacity — all without any manual intervention from the plant's operations team.
