Shantex (Pvt.) Limited — 7.5 MVA Textile Industry Substation | POWERtrac
Built for the Relentless Demands of Textile Manufacturing. Engineered to Last.
In the textile industry, power isn't just a utility — it's the lifeline of production. Every loom, every motor, every production line depends on a steady, clean, and uninterrupted electricity supply. When Shantex (Pvt.) Limited needed a power infrastructure worthy of their manufacturing scale, POWERtrac delivered a purpose-built 7.5 MVA substation system — robust, intelligent, and future-ready.
The Textile Power Challenge
Textile factories run heavy inductive loads — motors, drives, compressors, and high-speed machinery — all operating simultaneously and continuously. These loads demand not only high power capacity but also precise voltage regulation, automatic fault protection, and optimized power factor to avoid energy penalties and protect expensive equipment. Getting this wrong means production halts, machine damage, and spiraling costs. Getting it right means Shantex runs at full efficiency, every shift, every day.
What POWERtrac Delivered
7.5 MVA, 33/11 kV Power Transformer with OLTC: A high-capacity On-Load Tap Changer transformer forms the core of the substation, dynamically regulating output voltage under varying production loads — protecting sensitive machinery from voltage fluctuations without any interruption to live operations.
Outdoor 33 kV HT Switchgear (VCB): Vacuum Circuit Breaker-based high-voltage switchgear at the 33 kV entry point provides reliable fault interruption, safe isolation, and low-maintenance switching — critical for a factory environment demanding continuous uptime.
Complete 33 kV Protection Assembly: A full protection package including Auto Circuit Recloser (ACR), Isolator, Current Transformers (CT), Potential Transformers (PT), and Lightning Arresters creates multiple layers of defense against grid faults, voltage surges, and atmospheric disturbances — keeping the factory shielded and always operational.
Multiple Distribution Transformers (3000 kVA & 2000 kVA): Step-down distribution transformers at 3000 kVA and 2000 kVA ratings channel appropriately conditioned power to different production zones and utility blocks, enabling organized, zone-wise load management across the factory floor.
LT Switchgear up to 5000A: High-current low-tension switchgear panels handle the final stage of power distribution — delivering controlled, protected electricity directly to machinery, lighting, HVAC, and control systems throughout the facility at up to 5000A capacity.
Multiple Automatic PFI Plants: Several automatic Power Factor Improvement plants work in tandem, continuously monitoring and correcting the power factor across different load zones — reducing reactive energy consumption, cutting utility costs, and preventing transformer and motor stress across the entire installation.
Complete Electrical Integration & Commissioning: Every component was integrated, tested, and commissioned as a unified system — ensuring seamless coordination between high-voltage protection, distribution, and power quality equipment from the first day of operation.
The Result
A fully integrated, high-performance 7.5 MVA textile substation that gives Shantex (Pvt.) Limited the electrical confidence to run at maximum production capacity — with stable voltage, optimized energy costs, and protection against every foreseeable fault scenario. The system was also designed with future load expansion in mind, meaning as Shantex grows, their power infrastructure scales with them — without requiring a complete overhaul.
In an industry where every minute of downtime has a price, this is the infrastructure that keeps production moving.
